Today was a host family morning (my family let me sleep in late which I am eternally grateful for)and the afternoon was all ceremony and party.
First the street naming ceremony. Sebastopol Street was chosen as the name out of 430 entries for the street near the Yamauchi JHS and luck had the ceremony while we were here. The sun was shining bright for us (a bit too warm in our sweatshirts). Many speeches (including one by Hana and Briana) followed by official unveiling of the sign. Quite an honor.
Then the welcome party with many past exchange students in attendance. Many from the 2005-2006 exchange and a few from 20 years ago! Again speeches were in abundance as was the food and entertainment. As it turns out the Yamauchi kids have been practicing Seasons of Love too so they all sang together. Was wonderful!
Family day tomorrow so will wait until Monday or Tuesday to write again.
