Sebastopol World Friends (SWF) was organized as a Sebastopol City Commission in 1985, the year it began a sister city relationship with Yamauchi, Japan. SWF won a National Award from Sister Cities International for the Best First Year’s Program.
In 1992, a sister city agreement was signed with Chyhyryn, Ukraine. Hundreds of West Sonoma County youth have participated as student ambassadors. Both important exchange programs continue today.
The objectives of SWF are:
• To encourage the people of Sebastopol and their sister cities to understand each other as individuals, as members of their communities, and as citizens of their countries.
• To foster a continuing relationship of mutual concern between the people of Sebastopol and the people of their sisters cities.
• To undertake activities and programs that provide appropriate aid and comfort, education, and mutual understanding.
• To participate in local, national, and international programs of cooperative municipal organizations, such as Sister Cities International.
SWF and the Yamauchi and Chyhyryn student exchange programs are primarily funded by generous community support. Your help is always appreciated and tax-deductible donations of any size can be forwarded to: Sebastopol World Friends, P.O. Box 976, Sebastopol, CA 95473.
