Yamauchi Exchange Overview

Yamauchi-machi, Sebastopol Sister City for more than two decades!

In 1985 Sebastopol World Friends began a sister city relationship with Yamauchi-machi, Japan. Home-stay exchanges each spring have given generations of students from each city a deeper understanding of cultural differences and similarities while creating lifetime friendships bridging the pacific ocean.

On March 1, 2006, Yamauchi-machi merged with Takeo-shi and Kitagata-machi to form the new city of Takeo.

The latest group of travelers from Sebastopol, 16 student ambassadors and 5 adult chaperones, will be visiting Japan March 19th through April 1st, 2008. Check out the chaperone travel blog during their journey to get up-to-the-minute happenings!
